Rice EXPORT BY VESSEL
The IFG terminal at the Port of Lake Charles allows for the bulk shipment of rice via an oceangoing vessel. The port is located 30 miles from the gulf, one tow. The channel is 40 feet deep and the berth is 36 feet.
Typically, cargo is positioned a week ahead of vessel arrival. When vessel arrival is close, shipping bins are loaded. This is where USDA grades are established. No shipping bin has ever been returned.
